Last night ended the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Funny that March Madness ends in April??? Anyway, Matt's family has a little March Madness competition every year for bragging rights. Last year I was crowned the winner and was looking to go back to back this year. Saturday night was a sad night for me when both my picks got slaughtered!! Who knew that my proposed Champion North Carolina and UCLA would both fail to make it to the Championship game? I ended up losing to my father-in-law (who happened to be the score keeper...hmmmmm figures) and taking 2nd place (which I just like to call the 1st Loser). I guess 2nd isn't that bad when you consider that I beat like 10 people. But I have been officially dethroned. So sad. I guess I'll just have to wait for next year.
On the subject of sports, I'd like to just tell you all that Matt has finally decided to be a real St. Louis Cardinals fan. Being from Wisconsin, he has grown up as a Brewers fan. Blah! He had always told me he liked the Cardinals, but I finally told him he had to choose. If we were watching the Cardinals play the Brewers with his family, who would he root for?? He finally came to his senses and chose the Cardinals. I bought him his first St. Louis hat to celebrate. Now I just need to work on making him a "true" Cardinals fan. This would entail him wanting the Brewers to lose even when they're not playing the Cardinals. Hello, they are both in the same division, so you should not want to see the other win. That's like being a Yankee fan and still rooting for the Red Socks. Or like being a Packer fan and still wanting to see the Bears or the Vikings win. Who does that? Not true fans. Not the ones who are in it through the winning and losing seasons. Even when they trade one of your favorite players. (I'll miss ya Eckstein!) True Fans always want to see their team win and all their rivals lose.
I, on the other hand am now a true Packer fan by marriage. It was easy for me to adopt my husbands team, Green Bay, since I had no previous attachment to any other football team. When I was younger I was a 49ers fan during the whole Steve Young, Jerry Rice Era. But that faded quickly. I guess it may be a little harder to abandon a team you have watched and loved your whole life, but I think Matt finally decided that my love for the Cardinals outweighed his for the Brewers. Plus, he was always more into the Packers than he was into the Brewers. Besides, football is his sport, and baseball mine, so I think it only fair that he decide "our" football team and I decide "our" baseball team. Those are just my personal thoughts, you don't have to agree.
As for basketball, with no real draw toward any team from either of us, we have resorted to be Jazz fans by location. I was once a Trailblazer fan being from Portland and all, but when we moved to Utah, I switched to being a Jazz fan and just loved Stockton, Malone, Hornacek, Russell, and the whole gang, but again that faded. But for now we are Jazz fans until otherwise persuaded.
As for college sports, I have come to be somewhat of a Texas fan by friendship, but I will always be a "true" Utah State fan, Go Aggies!
Sorry for the novel, but you know me, I can talk sports.

Girl, don't make me say it...
GO KINGS!!!!! (even when we don't make the playoffs...*tear)
Ok you're right, during my first years of college, I was somewhat of a Kings fan. Which is bound to happen when forced to watch each and every game. Thanks Bri. But once again another team that has faded.
The Jazz suck, so do the Packers, and the Brewers, and the 49ers, and Texas, and the Yankees, and the Kings, and the Red Sox, and the Aggies...
The Blazers and the Cardinals are awesome though.
Just my "humble" opinion.
So I plan to hear more about sports come Sunday!!!
haha. I love it!
Go Twins! I've been a fan since Kirby! Oh, and Jon picked Kansas so he was thrilled on Monday... he is being cocky about it too!
Wow, you cannot only talk sports, but you can go on and on and on and on and on about sports. Not that I expect anything less from you! Go Jazz and Broncos and if we are routing for baseball, Cardinals. Oh and John, you need to learn more about sports.
KU all the way! Jokes, thats all we have out here is our awesome Jayhawks. I actually picked UCLA to win because I picked KU last year and they sucked! Oh well, the state is a crazy place this week! I'm glad that matt finally came out of the closet with his decision to like the Cardinals. Our royals will kill em... jokes they have sucked the last couple year, but they did beat the Yanks twice this week!
I was interested in your post until you mentioned NC double A.
Hey, it's Janet. I dont' know much about sports but I love the pics of Roxy!
